A crazy day in crazy Saigon

Today was a crazy day in a crazy town. It was fast, it was chaotic, exciting and diverse. The Palace of Independence and its history exhibit were a very interesting start. It has seen lots of attacks and a couple of coups, bombings, fights and of course it hosted many state officials of different regimes. The Notre Dame, the post office and the Ho Chi Minh City City Hall are all well preserved and reputable buildings. The whole city center of the old Saigon is rich on such intricately designed colonial objects which show the lives of the French colony at its best, floating over the poor and over-taxed population and its slams. Today it is an expensive area of the town. But interestingly not only for tourists. The cafes are also full with rich locals. I took then  the fast elevator to the 49th floor of the finance tower and was observing the pulse of the city from above. I took then the xe om and rode all the way to the Jade Emperor's Pagoda. Very impressive building with a lot of people who come there to pray to the gods. Then a late lunch at Propaganda and back to my homestay. Dinner in a seafood and snails place just nearby.
