Firenze

We've spent a couple of days in the Tuscan capital. The city is quite touristic.
It has some true magic, that even the massive flow of tourists didn't totally succeed to ruin. However they try really hard. For some reason many American first-timer Europe visitors prefer this destination over other places in the Continent. This scene can be also be funny instead of frustrating. I'll never forget Trattoria Acquacotta where we were seated next to a young couple. First the guy asked the waiter about what "Vino Rosso" was, then they received their carafe. The guy first filled his own glass almost full. It didn't flow over the rim thanks to the surface tension (the contractive tendency of the surface of a liquid that allows it to resist an external force [gravity in this case]). Only then he served the noble beverage to his girlfriend. 3 WTFs in 1 minute. Truly amusing.
The city also have interesting museums. And I'm not talking about the most famous Uffizi Galery. Museo Galileo was one of the highlights for me, after having had an overdose of medieval religious paintings pre-ordered and financed by the religious institution of which most beloved topics were blood, killing and child porn. Thanks, but no thanks. So we skipped the Uffizi and the Galleria dell'Accademia. We visited Palazzo Vecchio, Museo Galileo, Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore (the Duomo), Ponte Vecchio and a couple of trattorias and restaurants.
