Avignon, L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Apt (2/12/2019)

Since this was our last day in Avignon we loaded everything in the car, chatted with Peter the landlord a bit, checked out, and drove to a parking lot in Avignon on the edge of the old city. We were not done with the city yet, it's not so easy to detach from such a lovely town. We entered the Musée Calvet, the main museum of Avignon. Of course it's too big to digest in a couple of hours, but nevertheless very impressive:

On our way to Apt we stopped in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, which is a small town on the Sorgue river. The water was high to the point that it almost flooded the city. We were only ten days away from the strongest rainfalls in the Provence. The town was quite shut down, but we succeeded to find a restaurant open: La Libellule. I ordered "chicken" and I got this:

Yes, there is a part of a chicken in it, but it's an amazing piece of art.
The river and streets:

Our next base was Apt. Apt to itself is a town which we didn't quite explore, but due to its great location it served a great base for the next days. We stayed in the Le Couvent, which is monastery constructed a couple of years ago back in 1640. The monastery was partly converted into a hotel where we stayed. This is no doubt the most interesting buildings I ever spent significant time in. Shimon is holding the key. It really worked, but luckily we didn't have to carry it with us:
The medieval building is very well maintained, has a nice breakfast area, and has a nice courtyard with a pool.
