On our fourth day in Slovenia, we checked out in our Bled accommodation, and because of the bad weather in the mountains we turned to the south and after an hour of driving, we arrived at Predjama castle. With the combined ticket we could enter both, the castle and the cave.
Predjama Castle is a medieval building which was built in the rock of the mountain. This way you only need to build two or three walls, because one at least is already given. The original castle, which was build in the 13th century was destroyed in a siege. But a second castle was built instead. That one was destroyed in an earthquake in the 16th century. But the third castle, built in 1570, it was supposed to sink in the swamp, but no, that didn't happen, (ruining my story), it actually remained until today!
They were waiting for us!
Welcome guests!
Right after we were finished with the castle, we went down to a cave just on the side of the hill.
After 20 minutes of driving, we arrived at Postojna cave. That was way more touristic than the castle. Advise: get your combined ticket at the castle! Huge parking lot. We were driving around to find a parking slot, oh look who's on your right! Yep. Tribal groups of members of Family A was looking for their vehicles. I'm not surprised anymore.
The cave we toured with a train, which was going the first 5 kilometers out of 24.
There are stalagmites, stalactites, and formations called curtains.

In the late afternoon, we drove to Ajdovscina, where at a local freshly-pressed juice bar we got our keys to the apartment, where we stayed for the next 3 days. The flat was huge, I'm not sure we've visited every room during our stay. For dinner, we drove all the way to Nova Gorica, just next to the Italian border.
