Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka (NAKKA)

NAKKA is a huge museum for modern art. To be more accurate: the building is huge and impressive, but the actual exhibition place on floors 4 and 5 are not necessarily huge. We saw an exhibition of the artist Chiharu Shiota, who otherwise lives in Berlin, but she was invited by NAKKA to present this current exhibition.
The introduction movie screened explained in depth how and why she incorporates herself into her art by "becoming part of the painting". Here are some installations we saw:

"SHIP'S CAT (Muse)" is a work by contemporary artist Yanobe Kenji installed outdoors at the Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka. It is one of the internationally acclaimed "SHIP'S CAT" series, created in 2021 to coincide with the construction of the Osaka Nakanoshima Museum of Art. This giant sculpture is 3.5 meters high and features a white cat wearing a suit that looks like a space suit. The work is a guardian cat that watches over the museum. Hope it's doing a good job.
